Farewell Smile

Lonjezo Idrissa

University of Malawi

Down her cheeks
The flood of tears makes its way
I can hear the rhythm
Sounding, pounding,buzzing
Of her heart.
The stiffness of her body
Now trembling with doubt’s.

Her eyes gazing,
Far into the starless sky.
Silent questions
That deserves no answer,
now she opens the mouth to mutter
“When will you be back?”

The day hadn’t been so fair,
Expensive like a flight fare
But she has something
Indeed something
Something she might share,
Something to relieve the pain,

What can I do?
Chasing pages
Is this the cause?
Separating us.
I won’t stay longer
For the day hadn’t been so fair.
